Now through February 6th: Flag Football Registration

The City of Destin’s Flag Football League will begin on Wednesday, February 12th, 2020 at the Morgan Sports Center. A mandatory team captains’ meeting will be held on Wednesday, January 15th at 6:00 pm at Morgan Sports Center. Team fee is $300 and must be paid before the team is placed on the schedule. The last day to register a team is Thursday, February 6th. Individual fees are $40 to participate. A
$20 discount is offered to Destin Residents with a valid driver’s license. Individual fees must be paid before a player is eligible to play. All players must be at least seventeen years old to participate. For more

Now through February 20th: Spring Soccer Registration

Destin Parks & Recreation registration for youth spring soccer will take place January 6th – February 20th for ages 3-15 (age as of August 1, 2019). The fee is $40 with a $15 discount offered to Destin Residents with a valid driver’s license. All games are held on Friday nights at the Morgan Sports Center. Registration can be completed in person at the Destin Community Center Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Early registration is

January 25th: JROTC Pancake Breakfast

FWB HS Air Force JROTC Cadets Pancake Breakfast, Saturday January 25th, 2020 from 7:30am – 10 am

The Magnolia Grill is pleased to host the Fort Walton Beach High School Air Force Junior ROTC Cadets Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, January 25, from 7:30 – 10 am. The breakfast will include Smoked Sugar Sausage, all you can eat Pancakes, Orange Juice and Coffee. JROTC Cadets will serve the breakfast and have chosen the Air Force Enlisted Village Bob Hope as the recipient their Community Service sharing opportunity. A minimum donation of $7 per person is requested with 100% of the funds raised used to support the Ft. Walton Beach High School JROTC Program and The Air Force Enlisted Village Bob Hope. January 25th: Sip & Science: Mardi Gras

Bring your friends to the Emerald Coast Science Center in Fort Walton Beach, grab a drink, and let the good times roll. We’re bringing Mardi Gras magic to this Sip & Science, and you don’t want to miss this night at the museum. Between our Bourbon Street bead toss, Canal Street coin challenge, and Mardi Gras SMALLab trivia, this night will transport you to New Orleans–literally! Snap your photo in front of our green screen and pose with your krewe in front of some of The Big Easy’s most famous locations. Want to take it to the next level? Come dressed in your best Mardi Gras costumes or purple, green, or gold attire for a chance to win our costume contest. Stop by our masquerade corner to make your very own mask to wear at all your Mardi Gras parties. Fun knows no age limit, so get ready to chow down on Cajun food, drink a Hurricane, and have your King Cake and eat it, too. Carnival season has arrived!

Tickets: $30 nonmembers/$25 members

February 8th: Dog Adoption at Lee Nissan

Lee Nissan of Fort Walton Beach is proud to partner with Rescued Rescuers to find forever homes for our four-legged friends. Rescued Rescuers is a local organization centered around finding permanent homes for rescued canines. The adoption event will take place at Lee Nissan on Saturday, February 8th from noon until 3:00 pm. Join us in the fun as Lee Nissan and Rescued Rescuers staff team up to find loving homes

February 9th: Mardi Gras Downtown Throwndown

The City of Fort Walton Beach will host a Mardi Gras Parade and Downtown Throwdown on Sunday, February 9, 2020, at the corner of Ferry Road SE and First Street SE. The day will begin with a pre-party DJ at 10:30 a.m. (DJ Charles), a parade at 1 p.m. and an after party until 4 p.m. with Dikki Du & The Zydeko Crewe. The parade route starts at First Street and Eglin Parkway with floats lining up on First Street. The parade will travel up Eglin Parkway, right on Perry Avenue, slight right on Ferry Road, ending at First Street.

February 19th: Love For The Arts Guild Luncheon

In honor of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s (MKAF) 25-year historical journey, the popular Arts Guild Luncheon titled “Love for the Arts” returns on February 19, 2020. Hosted at the Emerald Grande, Emerald Ballroom from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m., the Arts Guild Luncheon will feature acclaimed guest speaker, Wendy Rodrigue, presenting “The Life & Legacy Tour of George Rodrigue.” This MKAF event is sponsored in part by the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village.

Come out to Fort Walton Beach Bowl and support the Emerald Coast Exchange Club. 100% of the proceeds go to support our National Project and Programs of Service: Prevention of Child Abuse and Local Youth Scholarships. Participant fee includes bowling shoe rental and 3 games. We will be having a Silent Auction, Raffle for Door Prizes and a 50/50 drawing. Also, your team can help us raise more money by collecting donations and buying extra pins to improve your total score as you compete for trophies and prizes.

April 4th: Emerald Coast Walk-a-thon

Old Spanish Trail in Crestview, Florida. All money raised for the event goes to Southeastern Guide Dogs and helps fund dogs to be trained for the blind and our veterans.

Southeastern Guide Dogs transforms lives by creating and nurturing extraordinary partnerships between people and dogs. Our experts create and train working dogs—including guide dogs, service dogs, and skilled companion dogs—and provide life-changing services for people with vision loss, veterans with disabilities, and children with significant challenges such as vision loss or the loss of a parent in the military. Pursuing our mission since 1982, Southeastern Guide Dogs now has over 1,100 dogs under our auspices.

All of our services—which include selective breeding and expert dog training; comprehensive on-campus student instruction; and lifetime alumni support—are provided at no cost to recipients. We rely 100% on private donations and receive no government funding.
