Destin Commons, Abrakadoodle Art Education, Off the Vine Produce, and Avantgarde Salon will host the first annual Destin Green Fest on Saturday, April 24th, 2010 from noon to 3pm at Destin Commons. The message theme of this event is "Reuse, Buy Locally, & Conserve". This event will benefit the Boys and Girls Club of the Emerald Coast and is meant to raise environmental awareness along our beautiful Emerald Coast.
Schools, local businesses, organizations, and individuals are invited to participate in this local event by submitting "globes" that are artistically designed and decorated to represent the "green" message they wish to promote.
Businesses may promote their "green" business or their "green" consciousness through their globe design. Schools may incorporate this project into their science or Earth Day curriculum. Organizations may promote their efforts locally at building a better community in which to live. Individuals and artists may wish to design globes as a way to promote the Green Fest theme and their work as artists. We encourage all to join in and get creative! These globes will be on display at Destin Commons Center Plaza all day and will be judged and awarded prizes for creativity. There will also be a Cut-A-Thon hosted by Avantgarde Salon offering free hair cuts with all tip proceeds to benefit the Gulf Restoration Network. There'll be a farmer's market and live cows for all to enjoy as well as Tie Dye for the kids and many more activities! To learn more or get involved contact Erin Bakker of Abrakadoodle.
